This is a red rolled leather collar, made in China. I expected more vibrant color. And the leather was a bit dry and hard. Fixed that up with some leather conditioner and mineral oil. So no complaints there. All in all, good collar. Not as good as the one I got from Petco, as the leather on that one was more supple and deeper in color. But this is good enough. Feels sturdy and will last a long time... That is, until the next time my dog has a run-in with the neighborhood skunk.

Looks great, bleeds onto fur... Jun 13, 2011

I purchased one of these burgundy rolled leather collars for my small Boston Terrier. When I first put it on her, I was thrilled. It looked really great! My Boston Terrier transformed from goofy puppy to a regal (but still pretty goofy) adult. Unfortunately, it took only a few days for the red dye to bleed onto her white fur. I bathed her to rid the fur of its new pink coloration successfully. I assumed that would be it for the dye bleeding, since it was getting a tad worn. My dog has been wearing this collar for a few months now, and it still bleeds... I'm not sure if there are any tricks to prevent this from happening, but I surely am curious (especially since the collar looks so good).

I had bought another similar collar a couple of years ago elsewhere that had no problems retaining its red color over time without fading. Unfortunately, this collar quickly lost almost all its color and now just looks brown. Otherwise, it is sturdy and works well. Just disappointed in the poor color process used to finish it.
