Must-have gear... Great comb... However... Nov 23, 2010
By M. Thomas This is a great comb, -have used it to de-flea our Samson Cat (he's every bit his name, -very LONG dark brown fur...and LOTS of it). However, -the main drawback is the color. The black is nice and aesthetically pleasing, -matchy-matchy with a lot of our pets' stuff, but it's impractical for this application. It would be even better to find this product in a white or lighter color (haven't thoroughly researched this make & model to see if that exists). The fleas (and the debris) blend in too well where the tines meet the black plastic and it's hard to see if you've gotten them all off the comb in between wipes. It's comfy enough in the hand, Samson doesn't mind it either, sturdy so far, and it really does get the buggers, -quite easily, ...but you want to be sure they all come off in the rinse water, and not go back onto your pet.
The plastic flea combs the Vet I worked for gave out/sold worked OK as I remember, and would be better than having no comb at all, but this type with these tines seems to do a much better job at holding them in place once grabbed.
If you own a cat or a dog, a flea comb is a must in your pet's gear box! -right after the water bowl and the food bowl. Even if he doesn't have fleas and is a house pet, -at some point it will happen. Nearly 40 years of pet ownership and this is the first year to do battle with fleas. Spending a few bucks for a comb to lie around in waiting is worth it, compared to the potential health issues your cat/dog (or your family) could incur; think: parasites (ex: tapeworms), Bubonic Plague (that's the one that took out nearly half of the European population once upon a time...), etc.. Fleas may be teeny-tiny things, but take them seriously. -Matter of fact take them more seriously than your doctor. -Veterinarians are well-educated/well-experienced in parasitology; American medical 'professionals' are absolutely clueless; avoid the problems up front. At the first sight of a single itch do a thorough comb-over; it only takes a few minutes. Simple. Put it off and you'll be at it for an hour at a time easily. If you don't get it up front and you're not going the chemical warfare route, plan on it taking weeks-to-months of whole-hearted effort to de-flea your pet and your home.

No fleas; just a small thing, but a great grooming tool! May 20, 2011
By Hazel Watson
"bqmother"
My cat has never had fleas, as she is an indoor cat, and she hates the brush I bought for grooming her. But when I took her to the vet recently, the groomer soothed her with a flea comb, and she (the cat) writhed in ecstasy!
We won't even mention the MOUNTAIN of hair the comb removed that her brush had missed! Look, ma! No hairballs!
Now I use it nearly every time she gets on my lap. I'm a little jealous, wondering if it's really the combing she's after and not my lap...
My only complaint is that it's called a flea comb, when it's also such a wonderful grooming and petting tool!
Buy it and Your cat will love it!

Recommended by my groomer Sep 10, 2010
By Cabushka My yorkie gets black stains and crust around the eyes. My groomer recommended this comb to use to remove the build up from his face. It works great, and is also helpful to remove small briars an! stickers that he picks up in his fur at this time of year. And the price can't be beat!

Love it! May 16, 2011
By Zuzu's picks and pans Nothing worse than combing through cat and dog fur looking for fleas, except when the comb breaks in two like other flea combs I've bought in the past. This flea comb is sturdy and even traps fleas between the metal teeth giving you time to dunk the comb in water and give the fleas one last swim.
It fits in your hand very comfortably and does the job without a worry about the handle cracking off like the plastic-handle combs often do. It's a super product at a super price. Thank you MiracleCoat Flea comb for making a product that really works and is strong enough to last.

Best five bucks I've spent in a while! Aug 21, 2011
By lvshopper This comb is great! My cat is an indoor cat and, fortunately, doesn't have fleas. I just wanted something more effective than a brush in removing loose fur and this does the trick. It picks up much more loose fur, is extremely easy to clean (much easier than a brush), and my cat's coat (short hair) looks absolutely stunning. The added benefit is that he absolutely LOVES being groomed with this comb. Highly recommended, fleas or not!
