great clipper Jun 19, 2007

This is the third clipper that my wife and I have bought and also the best.We bought cheaper clippers in the past which did a O.K. job but not like this one.We have two cats a persian and a himalayan which we like to keep trimed in the summer with this clipper we finished the hair cuts in about twenty minutes instead of hours. Our cats didn't seem to mind as bad either. This might seem like alot of money for a clipper but compaired to two pet groomings at $50 to $80 a piece its a good buy.BUY THIS CLIPPER IF YOU HAVE A LONG HAIR PET!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Years and Going Strong Jan 02, 2008
By mhkp I highly recommend this to any serious dog groomers and owners with dogs that require regular grooming. I own a Giant Schnauzer(GS), a breed that does not shed, so I have to give her a haircut every month. The hair on the GS is both fine and coarse. This clipper is the ONLY one that is able to cut the hair without trouble. After using it for five years, or about 60 times, I have had zero problems with it. It runs a bit hot (heating up the blade) on the higher speed after 30 minutes of continued use. I find that I can either take a break at this point and let the clipper cool off a bit, or focus on areas that are less sensitive to a warm blade. A great product that you will consistently see at major dog shows and professional groomers.

the gold standard in clippers. Jan 26, 2008

I purchased my original clippers back about 1985 for less than $50. They worked flawlessly for these many years on my various pairs of miniature schnauzers until, alas, I knocked them off the grooming table onto a cement floor where the case smashed into many pieces. The new one seems a replica of the old one which is refreshing since I assumed the casing now would be flimsier while encasing lesser quality innards. I'm happy to say that it seems the same great clipper as before. There were two changes I noted however. It now has two speeds and the cost has doubled.

Made short, stress-free work of grooming 2 large dogs... Jun 08, 2010

We have two large dogs, a golden retriever and a german shepherd mix. The groomer said it was going to cost $75 each to give them their customary summer shear. My wife spent 6 years working in vet clinics during school, and said Oster makes the best clipper out there - she looked at all of the options out there, and settled on these - which cost less than one trip to the groomer for both dogs would have. On Sunday morning she set about the process of clipping both dogs - and was done with both of them in less than 45 minutes. We have tried other cheaper clippers in the past, with limited success and maximum frustration. These clippers have two speeds, making them very versatile. They are quiet to operate, ergonomically sensitive and are not uncomfortably warm to the touch, even after extended operation (some heat is to be expected with ANY clipper.) The cord is of a more than adequate length, and the switch is simple to operate, even with your hands full. They cut through our golden's dense undercoat like butter - never once getting stuck or clogged and never pulling at the hair, even where it was slightly matted. These clippers made for a stress-free grooming experience all around, and left both dogs much cooler and happier.

Oster Golden A5 Oct 14, 2008

After many dollars spent on groomers, I decided to purchase the Oster A5 clipper for my two bichon mix dogs. I did lots of reseach before the purchase. These clippers really work but they are quite heavy and a little bulky for my hand. I was cramping up a bit while completing the trim on the dogs.
