Good machine, gets the job done. Jun 03, 2009
By dancinginafield Overall, I'd definitely recommend this machine for anyone who does a little sheep shearing. It is powerful enough to get the job done, and is easy to keep serviced. I've done hundreds of sheep with mine without any major problems. I'm shocked at the high prices I'm seeing for this on amazon, however. You should NOT have to pay more than $300 for this machine. If you can't find it at a good price here, look somewhere else.

Great for BIG dogs! Mar 16, 2010

We have a Saint Bernard and a trip to the groomer costs in excess of $125. At our last visit we learned the groomer was using this product to trim our big girl so we purchased our own and started trimming her ourselves. A word of caution: If you're using this shear to trim a large dog you have to be VERY careful! This isn't like using dog grooming shears. The shears have razor sharp, pointy blades and it's a good idea to talk to someone who has sheared sheep or the like to get some tips or even wacth them handle the product. You can seiously hurt your pet if you don't know what you're doing.
The product is excellent.

for only a few dollars more... Mar 24, 2011
By Kevin J. Pinkerton I used this machine for several years when I first started shearing sheep. I had the 2.5" yoke assembly and then switched over to the 3" yoke. This machine is OK if you only have a few sheep to shear and you get these clippers as a gift. The Wahl Lister Laser shearing machine is sold here at Amazon for only about $30 more and it is WAY more powerful a machine for doing sheep shearing then the shearmaster. I have used the Lister Laser for about 25 years and I still have the shearmaster for emergency use, but I have not used it in about 22 years or more. The shearmaster has bushings for all of the bearings in the head. The Lister laser has roller bearings. That feature alone makes the laser drive on past the point of no return when the shearmaster stops. When the cutter and comb decide that they have had enough and you are only half way thru shearing this particular sheep, you must stop and replace the blades if you are using the shearmaster. If you are using the laser, you can tighten down more then you know is good for the blades, but the machine will not stop and you might just be able to finish that sheep so you can then replace the blades. Try that with the shearmaster and the machine will physically stop cutting.... something to consider...

Great item! May 12, 2010
By L. Hodge This shearer made quick work of shearing of three long neglected Angora Goats. It handled some bad matting and worked like a charm, never heating up, and being quite easy to handle. I LOVE this shearer!
