Poor performance Nov 22, 2008
By S. Llanes

This clipper was not lucky for my pooch. It would not go through the 1 inch hair of my Miniture Schnauzer.
Also the universal combs Amazon is RECOMMENDing to buy with it do NOT FIT. So much for universal. I had to call KV Pet Supply (the company who sells them through Amazon) and after a lengthly trial and error they confirmed that the combs do not fit the clipper. I returned the combs. So---- I called Oster and got low rail combs for the Lucky Dog clipper. They fit, but alas, the clipper is so bad I am returning it. Now I am stuck with combs that probably won't fit any new clipper.
This entire purchase has been a disaster. I did call Amazon about the combs that they are recommending but they still haven't removed the pairing.
Stay away

Love it! Jan 30, 2010
By L. Weatherstone I have had three sets of these clippers over the last 20 years. I groom my own poodles and love that these clippers, they do not leave razor burn or cut to the skin (when used properly) The only drawbacks, I cannot find replacement blades and they are being discontinued :-( I purchased a set to put away for future as I have puppies that will need to be groomed for the next 15-20 years :-)

I've owned this since 1990 Jan 02, 2011

This is the best clipper I have ever had! It has lasted through two mini schnauzers. I'm sad the blade has always seemed hard to get and am glad I just found two on Amazon here! I bought two other clippers thinking that sooner or later this would die, but no it still works great as the day I bought it. The two other clippers do not have detachable blades, they are the solid kind with comb add ons, which simply do not work WHEN compared with this one. They seem to go right to the skin, making bald marks which I fixed by pulling this old trusty one out again. That or the comb attachments left the hair too long. On this, I prefer the medium, 1.5 mm blade for the body of my schnauzer. I find that newer blades need some breaking in and careful pressure applying when cutting, but it simply takes practice. I use it for the upper and under body, same blade, held at a different angle that is all. I would recommend this for any Lucky Dog! I will be sad if this clipper ever dies. :)

shearing shih tzus Aug 20, 2010
By Eileen I have four shih tzus who I groom at home. This clipper is very quiet. I use a coarser blade for the thicker haired dogs, and the blades switch out really easily. When I saw that this clipper might be discontinued, I immediately ordered a back up. It is the only one my boys sit through calmly thanks to its HUMMMM. I would have given it 5 stars but it does get hot at the blade. I usually take a break at that point and let it cool down. I have another clipper that is known for being cool, but it has a high pitch that gets the dogs nervous.

Save Your Pennies For More! Apr 18, 2010
By Robert P. Mcguire I have had one of these Oster Trimmers for years and all they are good for is fine touch up trimming. If you try to shave your animal with these, all you will do is agitate the animal and everybody gets upset. Save your pennies and buy a 2 Speed Oster Clipper with a Complete Comb Set. You will be happier. Never go Cheap, First Class only costs a little more.
