FINALLY, something that works!! Nov 12, 2010
By =^Genesis^= First, let me say that we have been searching high and low for something to help us escape the mountain of fur left behind by Rembrandt, our beloved Husky mix. Our home is littered with products that lured us in with promises of freedom from fur yet left us ever defeated in the end. We have them all, the Furminator, PetZoom, tools of all sizes and shapes including shedding blades, rakes, love gloves as well as pin, bristle and slicker brushes. Each left us wondering if we in fact had a mutant animal living in our home rather than a dog.
After numerous oral supplements such as oils, tablets and a visit to our vet resulting in a conversation which went something like this:
Me: "Doc, is there anything we can do to reduce Remmy's shedding? It is a full time job keeping the home free of hair. After a day or two it feels as if we have a litter of hairballs roaming our home."
Doc: "First, let me say that as a Husky mix, Rem is going to keep you busy in this area. My advice to you? Install carpet the same color as your dogs fur. After my wife and I did this we were MUCH happier." (I SWEAR this conversation DID happen)
Me: "....... Thanks Doc ...." (Shocked expression in place yet finding myself considering the option out of sheer desperation)
Flash forward to today, after only two sessions with the Oster tool we could not be happier. We did a great deal of research before we went with this product. We found the Mars Coat King, which this product appears to be based on, first but at between $35-$50 we felt it was a bit steep to purchase as a "trial" product. Afterall, we'd already been burned with the hefty price of the Furminator in the past. The Furminator, while producing a similar amount of hair during use appeared to tear out almost as much of the top coat as what lie underneath.
For $27 dollars we feel we are much much closer to our dream of finding freedom from fur. Rembrandt is doing very well, in fact, we realized that he is actually much, much smaller than we had originally believed. After his hair loss diet he is trim and fit again. NOTE: These types of tools are meant for dogs with a double coat. I doubt they would be very effective on dogs with short hair.
Thank you Oster!
P.S.
The cat seems to love it too!

I bought this with a gift certificate and brought it into work - a local groom shop. It is absolutely awesome!! Everyone there used it and everyone ordered their own the next day! A definite must for anyone brushing dogs with an undercoat.

Rake for thinning pet hair Aug 25, 2008
By a cat lover For Furry pets:: A sturdy Rake than thins well, while it combs and is acceptable to our cat. A good investment, made of stainless steel so it will last. Price was less than others offered by the other internet sellers.

Great product Aug 10, 2008

This rake was recommended to me by the groomer that I take my German Shepherds to. We had been using the Furminator which is good, but this rake is better.

A good tool for those difficult areas. Aug 03, 2008

I use this rake on my Newfoundland. The hair behind her ears tens to mat from time to time. This cuts through them without much discomfort to the dog, and without having to cut the mat out completely.
Ideally, a dog would never get matted enough to need this, but most of us just don't have/take time to stay on top of the grooming 24/7. This tool is nice to have when it's time to play catch-up.
