| | Description | If you want to stop your dog's excessive barking effectively without hurting him with a shock collar, try this Gentle Spray Citronella Anti-Bark Collar. Electric shock and ultra-sonic products attempt to redirect behaviors with pain. In addition to being less effective, pain may actually increase anxiety and aggression and make some behavior problems worse. The Gentle Spray Anti-Bark Collar is a much more humane and effective nuisance barking solution, delivering a harmless burst of citronella to interrupt your dog's barking. Your dog will quickly and painlessly learn that there is a consequence for barking. He should completely assimilate to the collar within a few days. This harmless spray conditions your dog to behave properly by working on four of his five senses: he hears it, feels it, sees it and smells it. | |

Better than I imagined Jul 26, 2010 Even in my wildest dreams I did not think this collar will work as it did.
It took 2 hours from the moment we put it on our dog until we noticed the results.
The whole attitude of our dog has changed dramatically.
This collar is 5 stars all the way!!

Made my dog sick! Don't take the risk! Jul 22, 2010 I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL! I was assured that this unit could be used on my 7lb Yorkie. Although it worked and my dog instantly stopped barking, he became completely lethargic after wearing it for about an hour and only two sprays! The unit had been leaking and sputtering the liquid from the citronella cartridge.
Why take the risk? Don't buy it.
Stopped continuous barking Jul 18, 2010 From the first try with this collar it has worked wonderful for my 51/2 year odl corgi Sydney. She immediately stopped after only half the bark out. What ever reason she likes to bark alot - rabbits, cars, squirrels, other neighborhood dogs barking she know she will get sprayed. The bunnies still get a half bark out-the are just to much for her!!But that is all. Now it works great for me but I have another corgi that it had absolutely no effect on! So it depends on the dog, the device works. I would buy it again and recommend trying it.
Bark Deterrent,,,,,Not a bark stopper Jul 16, 2010 6 month old - Yellow Lab Female.
Problem: Nuisance "cry-barking" especially when placed in the crate, near feeding time, and/or for attention. The rural breeder we purchased our pup from never crate trained the puppies. Our little girl threw fits, when placed in the kennel with non-stop "cry-barking".
Initial solution - Positive reinforcement: My wife and I have been through several dog obedience classes and crate trained our other three dogs using positive reinforcement - praise - happy talk, "Good girl!...Quiet kennel!" and lots of treats. After 3 months, this little girl never caught on....sooooo we moved on to other techniques.
Next solution - "The can....Oh No! Not the can!" - Taught to us in a prior dog obedience courses - we placed a few pennies in an empty soda can. Shake violently (never throw at the pup), whenever the pup does an inappropriate behavior. Our other dogs shutter and hide, whenever we touch the can. After 2 more months of positive reinforcement and "the can", our little lab pup was not impressed or phased by it.
Next solution - We considered an anti-bark shock collar. After much research and reading we found this citronella spray collar was a more humane way of correcting undesired nuisance barking, so we found the best price here at Amazon.com and purchased it. We were a little skeptical, since the Premier photo of the dog being sprayed by Citronella looks sooooo happy! - this is not a happy time for any owner!
The spray collar worked initially the first night - one bark and the first spray of Citronella - No more barking! Yahoooooo! A quiet night of sleep! Until.....the next night. Our puppy learned how the spray collar works. The next night....Bark...., Bark...., Bark........Bark! Bark! Bark! - and we regressed!!
We stuck with it for another x3 weeks and went through x2 refill cans of Citronella refilling the collar every night. Our pup learned as soon as she went to the kennel - she could growl and set the collar off and empty the Citronella by morning for a good morning episode of Bark! Bark! Bark!
This morning - I went to let her out of the kennel - she was doing the Bark.......Whimper......Bark....Whimper....She was not phased by the collar whatsoever - She squinted her eyes and wagged her tail through each and every spray as if she enjoyed each and every spray.
NEXT SOLUTION - I'm sad to say - We're moving onto a real shock collar that never gets empty and we can manually control with a remote control for other undesired behaviors - rough play with the other dogs, chewing habits, etc.
In conclusion, this Citronella spray collar may work for some dogs, but we're at our wits end with our sweet, little Yellow Lab pup. We can not wait till she reaches the 4 year old milestone and hopefully mellows out and stops these unwanted behaviors - as our other Labs have done.
SOOO GOOD! Jul 16, 2010 We just bought a 2nd one of these for our newest family addition. Both dogs are shelter dogs, so when you bring them home barking is huge. At first we thought it wasn't going to work. However, this is when our dogs were anxiety barking. At that point the dog gets more anxious, and actually barks more. If they are barking out of boredom it works. If you have a new dog, let them get a little more comfortable at your house before using. Also, start only using it where they boredom bark (for us, that place was in the 10 by 10 kennel outside)
Now I've taken this spray straight to the face a few times, even got it in my eye, and it's really not a big deal. It's annoying, but it doesn't hurt.
What this means is, if a person walks in your yard yes your probably still going to get the barking. But if your dog is just barking for sport, it may just work for you.
It worked 90% of the time on our German Shepherd, and works on our new Doberman. The German Shepherd (9 months old) even wears it to bed (she's crate trained) now that she understands how it works, and has turned some frazzled dog owners into happy dog owners. She used to bark at 3am until we got up and hung out with her, now we sleep all night, and it's all this collar. If she doesn't wear it to bed we'll be having problems. She also has accidents in her box if she starts barking a whole bunch, but with this collar she doesn't bark, so she doesn't get riled up, and so no accidents in the box.
It's a life saver for us. Hopefully it will work for you. Just don't give up on it the first week, especially if you've got a nervous dog. Buy lots of extra spray and extra batteries.
